Today, the park is a popular outdoor attraction for locals and visitors alike, and a sanctuary to more than 150 different species of birds.

In 1896, the Erie Electric Motor Company purchased a wooded area known as Hopkins Grove to develop an amusement park. Waldameer Park and Waterworld now has more tan 75 roller coasters, water slides, and rides for all ages, and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the nation.
